Rescue. Advocate. Professional Fire Dog

My name is Duchess, also known as, “The Duchess of Pearl Street.” I am a deaf Dalmatian, here in Boulder, Colorado, and writing to you with a heart full of gratitude, purpose, and love for animals who are still searching for their second chance. While I did not personally find my mom through the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, I am a proud rescue from Dalmatian Rescue & Dalmatian Wannabes out of Colorado Springs. Being rescued didn’t just give me a home—it gave me a future. It gave me the opportunity to learn, to work, and to serve. 

Today, that future has led me to a career as a professional fire dog for a local insurance agency, where I help educate our neighbors about fire safety, prevention, and preparedness. In a nutshell, my job is to drum up business for the team at 3R Insurance. We provide coaching and concierge service for auto, home and business insurance against fires and other potential claims. I know how rare and precious opportunity can be—especially for animals who may be overlooked because they are different. As a deaf dog, I have learned that compassion, patience, and belief can change the entire course of a life. That belief is something the Humane Society of Boulder Valley gives to countless animals every day, and it is why I feel such a deep connection to your mission. I am especially passionate about helping my brothers and sisters still in need—the dogs and cats waiting quietly in kennels, hoping someone will see their worth. In their honor, I would love to work with you to create a referral program that turns my work in the community into direct support for yours. Through community education, referrals, and outreach, this program would provide a donation to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, for each “ruff”erral, helping fund care, food, medical needs, transport services and forever homes.

 This dream also carries the legacy of my late brother, Sir Domino. He ran a similar referral program during his career, and through his dedication and kindness, thousands of dollars were raised for animals in need. Though he is no longer with us, his pawprints remain on my heart, and I would be honored to continue his work in a way that strengthens our local animal community.
